If you’ve considered Portugal as the destination for a previous holiday then the chances are that you’ve already heard of the popular Portuguese region of the Algarve. This wonderful region has everything you need to help make your holiday fun and memorable and thanks to it’s location on the south coast of Portugal, the Algarve is one of the most picturesque and interesting parts of Portugal. If you’re after a beach holiday then Albufeira is the place for you, as the area is home to over twenty beaches, all within a relatively short distance to each other, so if you don’t want to lay on the same beach everyday with the same ocean view, you don’t have to, you can visit a new beach everyday! Now that has to be the definition of ‘spoilt for choice’! The golden sand is beautifully soft and the incredibly clear waters are the perfect environment for water activities such as diving and snorkeling as you will be able to see perfectly through the clear waters and hopefully catch a glimpse of some of the beautiful marine life that lives in the area. If you fancy something a bit more active then why not have a go at para sailing, jet skiing or a bit of banana boating!
Speaking of keeping active, there are some great activities to try, such as Quad Ventura, where you will be able to roar around 60km trails that lead through forests and over hills on your very own quad bike! This is a great way to see parts of the region that aren’t easily accessible and a good way to get the adrenaline flowing!
Thanks to Portugal’s diverse and interesting history, there is also a fine selection of cultural and historic sights to see, including Paderne Castle. This medieval castle dates back to the 12th century and is only 8km away from Albufeira, so getting there is easy even on public transportation.
There are also many fabulous restaurants, cafes and shops here, as well as there being a great nightlife scene, with many bars and clubs open for business throughout the night and into the day.
