The annual Brighton festival is an occasion that is not to be missed. It takes place throughout the month of May; with 2013’s festival taking place from the 4th of May until the 26th. The three week festival boasts a whole host of diverse arts related events, based on the likes of music, visual arts, literature and theatre. Next year’s programme is not announced until the end of February, nevertheless it’s assured to be a fun filled and memorable occasion. It is certainly something worth planning a holiday around. To give you an idea of how impressive the shows were 11 of the ones at the 2012 festival won an Argus Angel award. These awards are to celebrate artistic excellence and were presented to C-12’s Dance Theatre’s street ballet “Trolleys”, the National Theatre of Scotland’s “The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart”, Chris Larner’s touching play “An Instinct for Kindness” and several others. All in all, there is something for everyone and the festival has never disappointed yet. Moreover, it is worth noting that the events are exceedingly cheap, with some even being free.
