Arguably one of the greatest cities in the world, there is plenty to do and see in Chicago. From going to the top of the Sears Tower to shopping on Michigan Avenue to walking along Navy Pier, there is never a dull moment when you are in Chicago. On top of all the attractions, Chicago is also a Mecca for food; known for their world famous stuffed pizza and Chicago style hotdogs.

As a native Chicagoan, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting several different restaurants and love giving recommendations to visitors on the best places to eat. Below are 10 restaurants I highly recommend you visit on your next trip to Chicago:

Giordanos

If you want an authentic, Chicago style deep dish pizza that will leave you feeling like you are in heaven, Giordanos is the place to go! Just be prepared to take a nap afterwards, as two slices will leave you stuffed and in a food comma.

Lou Malnatis

Just as delicious as Giordanos, Lou Malnatis also has amazing deep dish pizza, along with great thin crust pizza. But if you only have a limited amount of time in Chicago, you need to go with the deep dish!

Gene & Jude’s

If you want a great Chicago style hotdog, Gene and Jude’s is the places to go! They only serve Vienna beef hotdogs with Chicago style toppings: mustard, chopped onions, hot peppers, relish, tomato, celery salt, and a pickle spear. Don’t even think about asking for ketchup, unless it’s for their fresh cut fries. Asking for it on your hot dog will get you kicked out (you have been forewarned).

Ditka’s Steakhouse

By the legendary coach of the Chicago Bears, Ditka’s is probably the best steakhouse I have ever been to, putting chains such as Ruth Chris to shame.

Morton’s Steakhouse

Also a great steakhouse that originated in the amazing city of Chicago, you will not be disappointed with your meal at Morton’s. Make sure to save room for their legendary hot chocolate cake; it’s nothing short of amazing!

Eli’s Cheesecake

Those that say New York has the best cheesecake have not been to Eli’s in Chicago! There is no reason why you shouldn’t stop here for a piece of cheesecake or other pastry for dessert after your meal (unless you ate at Giordanos or Lou Malnatis; you won’t have room for dessert).

McCormicks & Schmicks

If you love seafood, this is the restaurant to go to! Located right in the heart of the loop on Wacker Drive, this is arguably the best seafood restaurant in Chicago. Enjoy your meal outdoors on a nice day and take in the beautiful Chicago scenery!

Wildfire

Also known for their seafood and steaks, you certainly will not be disappointed with your meal at Wildfire. A true Chicago restaurant with several locations throughout the city and suburbs, their steaks are so large you probably won’t be able to finish it!

Billy Goat Tavern

Named after the infamous Billy Goat that has cursed the Chicago Cubs, the Billy goat tavern has great burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches. If you are looking for a quick bite while touring the city, this is the place to go!

Walker Brothers

For breakfast, you have to go to Walker Brother’s Pancake House! They have the best pancakes you’ll ever try, although you certainly won’t be disappointed with anything you order!
